Captain Aysha's statement

“Welcome to the website of the UAE Delegation to ICAO – the United Nations specialized agency in charge of International Civil Aviation. Since 1972 the UAE has been a proud ICAO member State.

The growth of the UAE’s aviation industry over recent years has been without precedent. The UAE continues to generate traffic growth rates among the highest in the world. This contrasts dramatically with market contractions being experienced in many other global regions. Yet this rapid development has brought with it crucial challenges at a scale beyond the capacity of any country to resolve alone.

The UAE has therefore unhesitatingly taken recourse to ICAO as the global aviation regulatory authority.  Without the benefit of ICAO’s Standards and recommended practices, and the expert assistance of its staff, the extraordinarily rapid growth of the UAE’s aviation sector could never have been achieved while still respecting ICAO’s ongoing global objectives to improve the safety, efficiency and environmental sustainability of the global air transport network.

Just as the UAE has benefited greatly from the authority and expertise of ICAO, it is now committed to the closest cooperation with this vital Organization.  The UAE seeks,by its active participation in ICAO activities and through substantial contributions to the organization’s work programmes, to share the lessons it has learned and the expertise it has gained. The UAE remains committed to support ICAO and, through it, the entire civil aviation community.

I am grateful for you interest in UAE’s civil aviation sector. I encourage you to explore our website and submit any questions you may have. I will be delighted to respond to you.
